The book Eragon is about a poor farm boy named Eragon who finds a polished blue stone in the forest and takes it home with him. Overnight, the stone opens to reveal a dragon hatchling. When dark strangers come looking for the stone, Eragon and the dragon are forced to flee their home and find safety from an evil king and his armies with the help from an old story teller and an ancient sword. Will Eragon become one of the legendary Dragon Riders, or is he doomed to fall into the evil king's clutches?

A very detailed book, Eragon has well concluded chapters that let you think about what just happened and what may lie ahead. With the main characters being flawed and each having their own secrets, I think it's an exciting story. Filled with magic and adventure, Eragon is my favorite book, and I believe it's a book any fantasy reader would love.

The author of Eragon, Christopher Paolini, lives in Paradise Valley, Montana, and Eragon was the first book he wrote.
