Al Capone Does My Shirts: A reveiw by Amy Fan

Al Capone Does My Shirts
By Gennifer Choldenko

Moose Flanagan’s family moves to Alcatraz Island, a prison for the United States’ most troublesome murderers, robbers, and other criminals. During their stay, one of Moose’s new classmates, who just happen to be his dad’s boss’s daughter, persuades him to get other students to give their clothes to them so they could be washed by the most famous criminals. Since he agreed, everything went wrong.
As his mother struggles to make his mentally disabled sister normal, Moose has to make everything right. To do that, he asks a prisoner for help getting his sister to go to a special school. He also needs to find a way out of all the trouble, and most of all, he needs to get his parents to understand him.

I would rate this book 5 out of 5 (5 being the best). It has a way of saying that sometimes, you have to trust some of the most lawless people to help get you out of trouble and you have to stand up for yourself and others who can’t.
